Jewelweed Soap

This is an amazing soap!  Not only is it soap, it also neutralizes the oils found in Poison Ivy!  Jewelweed is a native woodland plant often found growing alongside poison ivy. It's is best known for its skin healing properties. The leaves and the juice from the stem of Jewelweed are used by herbalists as a treatment for poison ivy, oak and other plant induced rashes, as well as many other types of dermatitis. Jewelweed works by counter-reacting with the chemicals in other plants that cause irritation.

When you are out in the field and find you have been exposed to poison ivy, oak, or stinging nettle you can reach for the jewelweed plant and slice the stem, then rub its juicy inside on exposed parts. This will promptly ease irritation and usually prevents breakout for most people.

For this soap, coconut oil was infused with jewelweed (that's also where the green color comes from), and jewelweed tea was used in place of water.  When you have been exposed to poison ivy oils, wash well with Jewelweed soap all affected areas. Scented with Peppermint Essential Oil, this soap smells minty fresh as you lather away the poison ivy oil.  Or, you can just use it as a soap because it's pretty, it's cleansing, and it smells divinely minty!
